The Ironman Brazil 70.3 2009 edition will be hosted in Penha city, Santa Catarina, once again. The race, which was realized in Brasilia until 2007, has presented a very positive balance for the organization after its first edition in Penha (2008). As in any start, we have identified some needed adjustments, which are already being planned and will guarantee a still bigger grace for the 2009 edition of the race.

Initially, the first change made regards to the race day: August 29 – Saturday. This alteration intends to facilitate the athletes’ departure travel, since they will be able to schedule it for Sunday also. Besides that, the awards ceremony will happen on the day following the race, during lunch, preventing from delays on the results information. Another important change respects to the athletes’ arrival.

The finish line will be set in front of the Beto Carrero Park, outside, in order to facilitate the access for the local people and the athletes’ families, so they can accompany this moment, which is one of the most exciting moments of the race. Each registered athlete will receive his/her entry passport plus an extra one for his/her partner to access Beto Carrero World Park, considered one of the greatest attractions of Ironman Brazil 70.3.

The race course will also present some changes, since Penha city is compromised in realizing some workmanship that will favor the event. These alterations are being studied in order to improve the athletes’ security and comfort. We will soon post the course in details at the event’s website.

With all this, we expect that Ironman Brazil 70.3 consolidates itself as an event that valorizes satisfaction of the athletes as of the public, and we are compromised in following all the alternatives so this ideal can be reached.
